Minister Abdul Mu'ti discusses plan to build houses for teachers

Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti, here on Saturday, discussed plans for building houses for teachers to boost their motivation in educating students at schools.

He discussed this plan during a meeting with the Ministry of Housing and Settlements, the Statistics Indonesia (BPS), and the People's Savings Management Agency (BP Tapera).

"I hope we can provide good services for teachers by providing them with housing, so they can focus on working well," Mu'ti noted in the ministry's statement.

In line with this, Housing and Settlements Minister Maruarar Sirait revealed that the government will build houses for teachers.

"President Prabowo Subianto has instructed us to ensure that the assistance recipients are on-target and that we must provide decent housing for teachers," Sirait stated.

He also revealed that after the meeting, they will prepare a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two ministers and the BPS head.

The housing assistance program is expected to provide teachers with better housing.

Meanwhile, BPS Head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti stated that her side will continue coordinating with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to prepare data on teachers eligible for subsidized housing assistance.

"Of course, we will ensure that the data utilization can be improved," Widyasanti stated.

On the same occasion, Commissioner of BP Tapera, Heru Pudyo Nugroho, remarked that his side provided subsidized housing until early March 2025.

"BP Tapera is ready to monitor this plan to provide decent housing for teachers in Indonesia," he stated.
