Pep Guardiola reacts to Liverpool ending Man City's Premier League title run
Pep Guardiola has congratulated ‘fantastic’ Liverpool after they ended Manchester City’s run of four straight Premier League titles on Sunday. Guardiola’s team have dominated the English top-flight in recent years – winning the league in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 – clinching last season’s trophy after a close-fought title fight with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. City have suffered somewhat of a drop-off this term, though, currently sitting fourth in the table and failing to challenge for the title in 2025. Despite never looking like they’d defend their crown, City have enjoyed better form in the FA Cup, booking their spot in the final this weekend. Speaking after City’s 2-0 semi-final victory over Nottingham Forest, Guardiola sent a classy message to Arne Slot’s side and expressed hope that his own team will challenge for the Premier League title next season.
