Pep Guardiola reacts to Liverpool ending Man City's Premier League title run

Image
Pep Guardiola has congratulated ‘fantastic’ Liverpool after they ended Manchester City’s run of four straight Premier League titles on Sunday. Guardiola’s team have dominated the English top-flight in recent years – winning the league in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 – clinching last season’s trophy after a close-fought title fight with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. City have suffered somewhat of a drop-off this term, though, currently sitting fourth in the table and failing to challenge for the title in 2025. Despite never looking like they’d defend their crown, City have enjoyed better form in the FA Cup, booking their spot in the final this weekend. Speaking after City’s 2-0 semi-final victory over Nottingham Forest, Guardiola sent a classy message to Arne Slot’s side and expressed hope that his own team will challenge for the Premier League title next season. Why you should eat more fish (and shellfish) – and the healthiest types to try

Image
From fish and chips by the seaside to baked fillets served with seasonal veg enjoyed al fresco, the weather’s warming up – and we’re entering fish supper season. While the battered option is the one of the most calorific meals that we all know and love, scrape off the batter and ditch the chips and you’re left with one of the most nutritious foods around. “Fish is very healthy as it is high in protein and typically quite low in fats,” says Anna Daniels, a registered dietitian and spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association. Throw in the fact that it’s full of vitamins and minerals that contribute to a healthy heart and brain, and it’s essentially a superfood. Research suggests that consuming fish can even make us nicer people – with children who eat enough of it being kinder than their peers. While four species of fish: cod, haddock, salmon, tuna – and prawns (a shellfish crustacean) – make up 80 per cent of the fish we eat in the UK, other varieties can be healthier. Here,...

Dean Huijsen already has 3 reasons to reject Chelsea move in favor of Liverpool transfer

Image
Liverpool and Chelsea are set to do familiar battle in the transfer market this summer, with Dean Huijsen the latest common target. The history of these duels has not always favored the Reds, but previous deals should give the defender some cause to think very carefully. By some accounts, Chelsea has nosed into the lead in the race for Huijsen. That could pave the way for a familiar formula at Anfield. For many years, Chelsea could at least claim to be winning these transfer races by virtue of its better performance on the pitch. But Arne Slot currently stands on the verge of the Premier League title, while the Blues are struggling to even qualify for the Champions League — and in truth, Liverpool has been in the ascendency for some time. Should Chelsea miss out, it would be the third year running that it has not participated in Europe's premier competition. It is increasingly hard to see why any player would pick the London club over Liverpool from a competitive standpoint. Gall...

Lionel Messi Loses Key Attacking Partner as Inter Miami Finalize Robert Taylor Trade to Austin FC

Image
Lionel Messi is set to lose an important teammate after Inter Miami confirmed an unexpected trade to MLS rivals Austin FC. As Lionel Messi gears up for the highly anticipated Concacaf Champions Cup semifinal against the Vancouver Whitecaps, Inter Miami have announced the departure of Finnish forward Robert Taylor. The club traded Taylor to Austin FC, marking a significant shift in its roster. In exchange for Taylor, Inter Miami secured up to $750,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM). The deal includes $450,000 in GAM for 2025, $250,000 for 2026, and an additional $50,000 for 2027 if Taylor meets certain performance benchmarks. Taylor played a pivotal role in Messi’s early days with the team, contributing significantly to Inter Miami’s historic success. His efforts helped secure the inaugural Leagues Cup title in 2023 and the 2024 Supporters’ Shield with a record-breaking 74 points during the regular season. Despite Taylor’s exit, Inter Miami received some good news ahead of the ...

Carragher Urges Slot to Bench Liverpool Star For Rest of the Season

Image
Liverpool are now just one win away from winning the Premier League title after securing a hard-fought victory over Leicester City on Sunday afternoon. The Reds went into the game at the King Power Stadium expected to easily defeat their opponents, who have been struggling near the bottom of the table throughout the season. However, despite being at opposite ends of the table, Leicester put up a good fight and frustrated the league leaders for much of the match. The home side's resolve was broken with just 14 minutes of the game remaining, though. After some pinball inside the box, the ball fell to Trent Alexander-Arnold who hammered the ball into the back of the net with his left-foot. Liverpool were able to keep Leicester at bay for the remainder of the match as they held on to all three points. Carragher Speaks About Trent Alexander-Arnold After Winner at Leicester He thinks he shouldn't start for Liverpool again this season Alexander-Arnold went wild after scoring what tu...

Trent Alexander-Arnold gesture revealed to reflect Liverpool legacy

Image
Virgil van Dijk believes Trent Alexander-Arnold will always be remembered for his exploits in a Liverpool shirt if he decides to leave. Vice-captain Alexander-Arnold is out of contract in the summer and, unlike Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, has not put pen to paper on a new deal, amid an expectation he will join Real Madrid. But the right-back came off the bench to score a winner at Leicester on Sunday to give Liverpool a 13-point lead at the top of the table, which Van Dijk said is beyond “my wildest dreams”. Alexander-Arnold’s subsequent passionate celebration showed how much his goal meant to him and Van Dijk is confident that, amid the potential controversy of a departure, his achievements over 350 games for the club will not be forgotten. He said: “Whatever may happen in the future for him, that's something that he has to resolve with himself and the family. “But he's a Liverpool player at this point and he's important for our team. He has been important throughout th...

Premier League break FA Cup final fixture promise

Image
The Premier League has been forced to break a Football Association pledge to stop any top-tier matches being played on the eve of the men’s FA Cup final . A fixture dilemma led to Manchester United verus Chelsea being moved to a Friday night as the clubs then meet again in the women’s FA Cup final that Sunday. The men’s final on May 17 kicks off the day after the Old Trafford clash despite the FA saying ahead of the current season that the game would get adequate breathing space. “There will be no Premier League games on the Friday night before the final, to allow focus on the build-up to the showpiece event,” a statement from the FA outlined last summer. In a statement announcing kick-off time changes for the penultimate round of the season, the league apologised for failing to give fans more notice. The other most significant change is that Everton’s final match at Goodison Park – against Southampton – will kick off on the Sunday at noon. Some Everton fans criticised the timing ...

This year, the iPhone 17 range will have a lot riding on it. The brand has had a strong start to 2025, with the launch of the iPhone 16e and a first ever Q1 lead over Samsung. Now, we've got the best look yet at the iPhone 17 Pro Max model. That comes from renowned concept maker, 4RMD, who has created the renders based on the flurry of leaks and rumours we've heard so far. As you've probably already guessed, they're interesting to look at. We've already reported on the design changes expected for the new handsets, which in the case of the Pro Max includes a wholly new camera bar. That spans the full width of the handset, with the camera modules themselves in the same spot, and ...

Relief followed by joy for Arne Slot with Liverpool on verge of title

Image
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot allowed his relief to give way to something more celebratory after seeing his side snatch a late 2-1 win at home to West Ham which brought the Premier League title within two victories. Virgil van Dijk’s 89th-minute header, just four minutes after the Hammers had equalised, clinched three points that Slot accepted they may not have fully deserved. At the final whistle the Dutchman produced a rare show of emotion, celebrating with a double fist pump in front of the Kop in the knowledge that a record-equalling 20th league championship has almost been secured. “It was a big relief. Ali (goalkeeper Alisson Becker) made sure they didn’t score earlier, they had multiple chances to score the 1-1 in the second half,” said Slot, whose 36 wins in his first 50 matches is seven better than the previous bests of Joe Fagan and Sir Kenny Dalglish. “To me it felt after West Ham scored, the way the second half went, we could expect to score more but our fans and pla...

Jannik Sinner in ATP rankings after storming into Monte-Carlo final

Image
Tennis stalwart Carlos Alcaraz has stormed into the finals of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 tournament. The 21-year-old star player defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the semi-final thriller with a scoreline of 7-6 (2), 6-4. Alcaraz has a great chance to win his first 1000 title of this year after winning the ATP 500 Rotterdam Open following his blistering win over Alex de Minaur in the final showdown. The 21-year-old tennis star has now leaped past current world number one Jannik Sinner in the PIF ATP rankings. The Spain-born star now sets out to lead the new PIF ATP Live Race to Turin, holding an extremely narrow edge over the Italian sensation. Alcaraz now sits at the top spot of the points table with 2060 points to his name, while Sinner is in the second spot with 2000 points and is currently out of action due to a doping ban. Apart from that, Alexander Zverev, who failed to impress after the Australian Open 2025, sits at the third spot with 1675 points. After him, Indian...

Manchester United report: Alejandro Garnacho has agreed exit

Image
Alejandro Garnacho is ready to leave Manchester United at a reduced price, having agreed terms for his departure already. The Spain-born Argentina is enduring a tough season at Old Trafford, having netted in just nine of his 47 appearances all time, as Ruben Amorim struggles to get a tune out of this group of players. A big summer is rumoured behind the scenes, and with Manchester United needing a few sales to boost their hopes of complying with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) – meaning that a couple of star names may be sacrificed in Amorim's rebuild. Alejandro Garnacho set for €45m exit from Manchester United Garnacho is still recognised by FourFourTwo in our list of the best left wingers in the world despite this season's dip in form – but has not escaped the criticism of fans and pundits a-like who have questioned his attitude this season. Sky Sports pundit and one-club man at Old Trafford Gary Neville backed Amorim's high-profile decision to drop Garnacho from...

Trump adviser loses it on Fox News as he yells over host

Image
Fox News aired a blistering row between Donald Trump 's Homeland Security adviser Stephen Miller and host Martha MacCallum this week, as the flustered politician was left yelling over the news anchor. Miller was on the show defending the sweeping tariffs being felt all around the globe, which have sent stock markets into a spiral. On Tuesday (April 8), he claimed the changes will make "America the manufacturing centre of the world". Miller said live on-air: "We have a president who has now actually taken the necessary action to bring back American industrial power and might, so that we will have real hard deterrence in this country, real hard strength in this country. And the middle class workers, the families can earn an income that they can retire on." But things got tense as Martha argued the US public want to hear about "some of those people more and Wall Street a little bit less", Miller interrupted her to yell: "Yes, and think about what pe...

Who’s Going to Replace Blake Snell in Dodgers Rotation?

Image
The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed Blake Snell on the injured list due to shoulder inflammation. Right-handed pitcher Matt Sauer was recalled as a result. The Dodgers have never been strangers to pitching injuries, but for a two-time Cy Young award winner and $182 million offseason addition to land on the injured list at this point of the season is a major blow to the momentum created by the 9-1 defending champions. Coming just days after the news of Freddie Freeman landing on the IL as well, more questions of the true depth of this L.A. roster are being asked As for Snell, the glaring question is who steps up in the rotation to take his place. Luckily for the Dodgers, there are a few more than capable options to hold down the mound, at least for Snell’s scheduled start on Tuesday. The first option is bringing up another southpaw in Justin Wrobleski. He last pitched on April 1 in Triple-A Oklahoma City, throwing 5.2 scoreless innings and only allowing three hits in the start. La...

Jon Scheyer for language toward officials,Dan Hurley sarcastically calls out Kelvin Sampson

Image
Saturday’s Final Four game between No. 1-seeds Houston and Duke provided an intense atmosphere, and emotions were high all night — particularly in the final minutes of regulation. The passion of the moment was clear as both Houston head coach Kelvin Sampson, and Duke head coach Jon Scheyer were not shy when letting their voices, or language, be heard to the officials on the court. Responding to college basketball reporter John Fanta’s tweet regarding the specific words used by both coaches down the stretch in the matchup, UConn‘s Dan Hurley threw in a playful jab at both head coaches. He criticized them for bad-mouthing the officials. “No way. What a disgrace!” Hurley tweeted. The Huskies headman likely sent that tweet with a wink and a nudge, as he’s been known to give the officials at UConn games an earful a time or two each season. Most recently, Hurley made headlines due to his comments regarding the officials toward the Baylor Bears men’s basketball team after being eliminat...
