Legendary pianist Mike Lang plays piano with the amazing

Eric Rigler on pipes and whistles.

Eric was famously the piper featured on the scores to 'Brave Heart" and "Titanic" among others whilst Mike is so prolific a recording artist that it's difficult to know where to begin with the credits.

Besides being a Motown regular, he has played for most every film composer you could wish to name.

Listen carefully to the piano part next time Kelsey Grammar's theme to "Frasier" shows up on tv or Nathalie Cole sings "Unforgettable" and, one of my favorites: the end credits to my favorite childhood film, "BIG" starring Tom Hanks.

Thanks Guys, I truly am lucky!

"THE DONNER PARTY" - excerpt (picture is very low-rez until I get the real thing from John!)

Producer John Emerson Moore's "The Donner Party" depicts the horrors faced by the Donner Party during the bleak winter of 1846.

The film, starring Crispin Glover (pictured above) was an absolute pleasure to score, my work having been done for me by the epic cinematography.

Click on the screen-shot above for an excerpt from the film (actually... one of my favorite scenes).

"The Donner" premieres at the Austin Film Festival in October, 2009

THE DONNER PARTY - SOUNDTRACK

IN THE DAYS OF SAINT PATRICK

- written for the Irish 1920s silent movie "In Aimsir Phádraig" or "In the Days of St. Patrick"

Those haunting violin solos are played by the amazing Anna Kostyuchek with Eric Rigler again bringing his own form of sorcery on the pipes.

A Couple More Things...

"Jane Trocaire" is a play on words - the Irish "Déan Trocaire" which is pronounced the same as the title means "Have Mercy"

I wrote the piece "Flying" when I was about 21 or 22; It always reminds me of that scene from "The English Patient" where the two lovers are flying over a golden desert...
